About Nichaud Fitzgibbon

Nichaud Fitzgibbon – Jazz Vocalist Nichaud Fitzgibbon is one of Australia’s most admired jazz vocalists, celebrated for her warm, sultry tone, natural charisma and elegant stage presence. A true jazz stylist, Nichaud brings sophistication, swing and soul to every performance, with a repertoire that moves effortlessly through the Great American Songbook, bossa nova, blues, ballads and classic jazz grooves. Born into the legendary Fitzgibbon jazz and showbiz family, Nichaud was surrounded by music from the very beginning. Her father, Smacka Fitzgibbon, was one of Australia’s best-loved jazz musicians and entertainers, while her brother Mark Fitzgibbon is widely regarded as one of the country’s finest jazz pianists and remains an important musical collaborator. This rich family history helped shape Nichaud’s deep connection to jazz, along with early influences such as Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Peggy Lee, Carmen McRae, Anita O’Day and Frank Sinatra. Nichaud’s career has taken her from intimate jazz clubs to major festivals, gala events, concert stages and television appearances. She has performed at the Melbourne International Jazz Festival, Stonnington Jazz Festival, the Melbourne International Arts Festival and The Famous Spiegeltent, and has appeared with some of Australia’s most respected musicians, including James Morrison. Her acclaimed tribute shows, especially her Peggy Lee performances, have become standout highlights in her career. Her credits also include performances for major public and private events, including the 70th Commemorative Gala Ball in Darwin, where she performed for an audience of 1,000 guests, including the Governor-General Quentin Bryce and Prime Minister Julia Gillard. Over the years, she has appeared on ABC television programs, worked as a backing vocalist for James Reyne, performed with The Models in London, and collaborated across jazz, soul, funk, rock, theatre and big band settings. Nichaud is known for her versatility and can perform in a range of formats, from elegant duo or trio line-ups through to quintet, eight-piece tribute shows and full big band productions. Her available shows include The Great American Songbook, You Give Me Fever: A Tribute to Miss Peggy Lee, The Smacka Fitzgibbon Tribute Concert, So Nice: A Celebration of Sergio Mendes and 1960s Latin Pop, The Blonde Bombshells Tribute, and Viva La Diva.
